NJ Football: Joe Barsky caps Colts Neck comeback against Freehold

Joe Barsky’s 1-yard TD run followed by his 2-point conversion run with 5:05 left gave Colts Neck a 36-35 win over Freehold

As a parent in Colts Neck school district, I am delighted with the dedication exhibited by our staff. While many New Jersey districts could not open for in-person instruction, due to lack of staff, our teachers opted to return to work this semester to provide quality education to our children. Our children’s education is paramount, and I am grateful that our Colts Neck teachers recognized the importance of their role in our children’s lives.

Notwithstanding the above, teachers, parents and students still face challenges on remote learning days. The technology is mediocre at best. Even with enhanced high-speed WIFI in our home, we experience glitches such as the Chromebook display freezing and teachers and/or students being kicked off the Google Meet. My child’s teachers are exceptional, but the challenges of technology and teaching an in-person class, alongside a remote class, are taxing their abilities to present an organized lesson. This has elevated frustration levels in students, teachers and parents. We must return to full time in-classroom instruction.

Legislation: Bill would move Earle students to Colts Neck

Only last week, an elementary school in central Michigan was closed due to an outbreak of strep throat. Even with all of the precautions of masks, sterilization and hybrid learning, it still happened. The superintendent in that district cited dirty masks as a potential cause.

There is no perfect scenario. We cannot shrink-wrap wrap our children. We can however get them educated while taking practical precautions. Let’s get back into the classroom where our teachers and children belong.
