Whether you’re single or coupled up this Valentine’s Day, why not treat yourself to something special.

In a online study conducted by Dr. Wayne Jonas in partnership with the Harris Poll, it was found that 80% of participants tended to be more mindful about regular self-care practices after the pandemic, and 46% reported struggling to find ways to maintain their physical, mental and spiritual health during the pandemic.

Sue Hunter, of the Shoppes at American Candle in Bartonsville, feels that self-care is not only defined as staying psychically healthy and practicing good hygiene.

It’s also important to indulge in once in awhile.

“Self care is always important for your well being and over health, but with COVID it is especially important. Life is so disruptive and our usual daily routines no longer exist, so many times the stress has us questioning ourselves. Now that we all have a little time it is important to use it for ourselves,” she said.

And you don’t have spend a fortune either.

The Shoppes sell items such as facial masks, lotions, CBD products, aromatherapy oils, candles and bath bombs.

Even a nice bottle of wine, chocolate and jewelry will help to de-stress during these uncertain times. If not, it may lift your spirits temporarily, Hunter says.

“They are all great products and are essential for when we need a little more positive reassurance for ourselves. I highly recommend you give it a try, myself and our staff love these products,” she said.

At Pocono Soap, all products are natural, which are not only better for your skin, but they also have a pleasant aroma.

“Natural luxury soap is the ultimate pandemic friendly Valentine’s gift. Bar soap is just as effective as liquid soap in cleaning skin,” owner Amanda Diemer Bean said. “Also, Things that smell good to us instantly lift our spirits and set a mood. We also carry high quality body lotions and soy candles, all made by us here in the Poconos.”

Both Pocono Soap (10 N. Seventh St., Stroudsburg) and the Shoppes at American Candle can ship products, offer curbside pickup, and deliver locally.

It’s all part of the new norm in hopes that customers will shop locally.

“It is more important than ever to support small businesses this year because we are still at a serious risk of losing so many as the pandemic continues to throw obstacles. Local communities will lose their identity as the small businesses that shape the spirit of the town fade away. Most small businesses has had substantial losses this year and need the support if the community to survive,” Diemer Beam said.
