Developers are working to open Springfield’s third recreational marijuana store on the city’s west side by the end of March.

The store will be owned by Maribis, the company opened its first Sangamon County location in Grandview last year. It will be at 3025 Lindbergh Blvd., the site of a now-closed AMC theater.

Chris Stone, one of the project developers, said the building was in good shape and they are working to meet building requirements in order to grow and sell marijuana.

The state requires Maribis to open its second store by March 31. Stone said they are working to meet that goal by reading the building as they work with the Springfield City Council for approval.

The council’s planning and zoning commission will discuss the permit on Feb. 16, with a vote in front of the full council set for March 16.

This would be Springfield’s third recreational marijuana dispensary and fourth in Sangamon County.
